A four-hour long movie that is a love story between a father and his daughter, Dujone is a 2009 Bengali film directed by Bijoy Nandi. Produced by Anup Kumar Biswas, the director of the Kolkata-based Birsa Productions, Dujone was released in August 2009. It was screened at various international film festivals and won awards at the Borderlines Film Festival in Mumbai. The screenplay for Dujone was written by Bhasker Mukherjee and Neel Dutt Saha. The film was originally scheduled for release in April 2009, but after the success of other Bengali films in foreign countries, its release was postponed. Dujone also brought fame to other Bengali artists. Besides Srabanti Chatterjee, it featured Pijush Ganguly, Arjun Chakrabarty, Parambrata Chatterjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury and many others.Dujone is about an old man named Sudipto (Drishtipat) who lives in a village with his wife Himangshu (Srabanti), daughter Minakshi (Nusrat Jahan), son Nabamanja (Apurva) and grandson Mohua (Atin). Sudipto is the guardian of his orphaned nephew Nabamanja, who was brought up by him. To provide for them, Sudipto continues to work at the same government office he started with. His job offers him no challenges any longer, but, driven by habit and driven by his own ego, he continues doing it. The film opens on a very solemn note with Sudipto taking an oath in front of a Kali Puja pandal that he will not take any leave that year. He even swears that if the need arises, he will not even sleep for one night. Before starting on his journey to office, Sudipto takes Nabamanja to school and works at the office. Sudipto starts by remembering his past, when he had just graduated from college. He remembers meeting Susmita (Srabanti Chatterjee) for the first time. Sudipto was in love with Susmita, who lived in the same locality, but they were unable to make their relationship work. On one day, Sudipto goes to her house to bring back a book she had borrowed earlier, but is beaten mercilessly by Susmita's father Debabrata (Anjan Dutt). Sudipto becomes very depressed after this incident and fills up his life with books instead of people. Sudipto soon comes to the office and starts doing his work without any sense of urgency. On one day, Susmita comes to the office and asks Sudipto for a job as a typist. Sudipto agrees to give her a chance, but is shocked when he sees that Susmita is now a man named Ramesh (Parambrata Chatterjee). During this time, Nabamanja has become very attached to Susmita and constantly tries to meet her. Sudipto, however, is worried that Susmita will take away Nabamanja's life if she ever finds him on her way.
